Pomelli FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about Pomelli — a free AI marketing tool from Google Labs and Google DeepMind.

General

What is Pomelli?

Pomelli is a free AI tool from Google Labs and Google DeepMind that helps small and medium businesses create marketing content in their brand’s style. The service analyzes your website, identifies your brand identity, and generates text, images, and ready-made campaigns for social media and advertising.

What is Business DNA?

Business DNA is your brand profile that Pomelli creates automatically by analyzing your website. It includes your color palette, fonts, tone of voice, and visual style. All generated materials are built on this foundation.

Who’s behind Pomelli?

Pomelli is a joint project of Google Labs (experimental product lab) and Google DeepMind (AI research division). The project is led by Daniel Adonai and Bea Alessio — product managers at Google.

Pricing and Access

How much does Pomelli cost?

Pomelli is completely free — it’s in beta testing mode. There are no hidden fees, subscriptions, or limits on the number of generations. There’s no invite-only access: any Google account will do.

What happens when the beta ends?

Google hasn’t announced a future business model. Possible options include: a free basic tier with paid features, integration into Google Workspace, or into the Google Ads ecosystem. For now, you can use it without restrictions.

Which countries is Pomelli available in?

The service is officially available in four countries: the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. You can access it from other countries using a VPN connected to a server in one of the supported regions (the US is recommended).

Functionality

What languages does Pomelli support?

Currently, English only. The interface, prompts, and generated content are all in English. Support for other languages hasn’t been announced, but given Google’s global reach, expansion is likely in future updates.

Do I need a website to start using Pomelli?

Having a website significantly improves results — Pomelli analyzes it to create your Business DNA. But technically, you can start without one: you’ll be able to describe your brand manually and set up Business DNA yourself.

Can I publish Pomelli content directly to social media?

Not yet. Generated materials need to be downloaded and uploaded to the desired platform manually. Direct social media integration hasn’t been implemented yet.

What file formats can I download?

Pomelli lets you download finished creatives in standard formats — PNG and JPG for images. Files are generated in the appropriate sizes for specific platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Google Ads, etc.).

How many creatives can I make?

There are currently no public limits on the number of generations. You can create as much content as you need. However, since the service is in beta, Google may introduce limits in the future.

What is Photoshoot and how is it different from background removal?

Photoshoot transforms an ordinary product photo into a professional studio shot. Unlike simple background removal, Photoshoot completely regenerates the scene: adding professional lighting, shadows, reflections, and context. It’s the difference between “a photo on a white background” and “a studio shot for a catalog.” Powered by Google’s Nano Banana technology.

Safety and Data

Does Pomelli store my data?

Pomelli operates under Google’s standard Privacy Policy. The service only analyzes publicly available information from your website. Uploaded product photos are used for generation and are not shared with third parties.

Can I use generated content commercially?

Yes. Content created in Pomelli can be used for advertising, social media, websites, and any commercial materials. Terms of use are governed by Google’s Terms of Service.
